Maybe instead of "original" band you should post as "derivatively retro" hippie band. Hey it worked for the Black Crowes when they ripped off the Stones and Aerosmith's look simultaneously. It's OK, no want really wants original music anyway. Oh and remember, Densmore was considered a wicked geek for his time (Morrison couldn't stand it) but he was a genius drumming for that band and that's what mattered. I only say all this cause I'm probably the perfect drummer for your "project", but I'm 43, have a kid and seriously hate the music business (having clawed my way through the "original" indie rock scene for 20+ years...before stoner and grunge were adjectives) and aint got that look anymore. I'm the bitter one, but I've earned it and wear it well. Plus there aint no way I'm practicing 3 nights a week! It's rock and roll, not rocket science. I doubt King Crimson even practiced 3 nights a week!!
I'm just bustin yer balls. Seriously, I like the ad and get what you're going for. Screw these cover band LI dweebs. Good luck and play Manhattan. You'll have much more fun. Anyone using Densmore and Bonham in the same sentence is allright with me!
the record company has nothing to do with the way we look.we put what we want in our ad because thats what we want to present ourselves as a gang.its sad that we even have to put that in our ad,but the fact of the matter is we keep meeting cats with no style or charisma, that look like all the other people on long island and when we play a show we like to stick out.you dont have to agree with my opinion but anyway we put our ad up to find a drummer not discuss your version of maturity, were just tryin to find someone who gets it "the whole package" if it pisses you off tough ****
If you're going to audition someone, be courteous and professional enough to be upfront with them and tell them what you think. If theres something you didn't like, or are simply not interested, tell them.
Secondly, while being marketable is very important, looks shouldn't have anything to do with music. If a record company wants you to wear your hair a certain way and dress a certain way, tell them "no thanks." Be yourself.
If you're not interested in someone because they don't look like a "dirty-hippie," or " a rocker from the 60's," you're going to be turning away a lot of great drummers. You should modify your "aesthetic criteria" to saying something more mature.
