Long Island Musicians Classifieds

I'm in my 50's and I'm looking for some kind of regular playing with other musicians situation, covers and/or originals, and not necessarily a gigging one either. Maybe some sort of bi-monthly gathering of people picking tunes to learn and then play in a rehearsal studio or private space just for enjoyment would be great as well.

The only thing I do request is that, even though I'm in my 50's, I'm not into the 'usual' long island bar band type of songs that folks around my age seem to be playing everywhere I look. All that I-IV-V blues, the mustang sally's, the moon dance's, proud mary's, R&B, soul, tom petty's, skynyrds, melissa etheridges, etc etc etc.

I'd really like to be playing high energy, ass kicking music that has great melodies, hooks and changes, from 60's to the present day and anything from pop to punk to progressive to hard rock to funk to jazz to fusion!

Just looking to get out and play and have fun doing it. I'm laid back, no pressure, no attitude, no ego, no drink no drugs no smoke
