Can ya hear me? I'm shouting...I've traveled further... but would like to know whether your're a "cover" or original band.... and if a "cover," who you play? How many pieces in the band.. how often do you practice and gig? What do you want in a keyboard player?
You sound like you would fit in very well with us, We are part-time but serious "circuit musicians" playing same type of music. We have P/A,Equipment & rehearsal space in Old Bethpage,If this is not too far of a distance please give me a shout @ (516)606-7251.
Just a bit of clarification to some players who have e-mailed me privately - while I know I have limited time for the music and certainly still need to improve certain skills, I have not been a "garage band" musician - I have played with many bands all over Manhattan - and have been "out of the loop," NOT since high school - but only in the last 10 years while raising kids.... therefore - musicians with a medium level of proficiency would make a better a better match.
Keyboards, I feel the same as you!!!!!!!!!!!! Have original album and great band but need some one to play some chords, great time and lots of fun.If this is for you call back .631-220-6077
Keyboard player - with intense spirit - wants (and vicerally needs) to play music with fellow musicians in Suffolk. I am weary from traveling too far to practice and play. I work an inordinate amount of hours and still am very involved with my kids. I have no allusions (delusions) about "making it;" I had a grand time on the journey and just want to jam with folks who are interested in rehearsing 2-4 times monthly....and perhaps gigging locally when we can. However - for me - this is a labor of love.... while money is always nice - I need to play with people who are not turning to the band to help with their bills.... or actualize their unrequited dreams of putting together very complicated Chick Corea type of music. I can not offer the time needed for such endeavors.
I read music, have a good ear, can sing harmonies, decent equipment but still need improvement in my playing. I probably am considered "good" by lay standards and "just okay" by pros. I've been in many bands - and have played with some excellent musicians - far better than me - but I think they kept me around because I learn easily if concretely shown, and because I am a good team player.
I'm not looking for an excuse to get out of the house and get plastered - I seriously work out my arrangements - but having hit 50 - if it isn't joyous - and the musicians aren't "straight up," dependable, somewhat talented and good natured, then why bother?
I have played in too many original bands....many R&B bands....but now - I would really like to play the music of my adolescence (that I respected and swooned to)....Traffic, Jethro Tull, The Band, The Doors, Cream, Crosby Stills & Nash & Young, Who, Santana, Stones....
If interested - please e-mail me your address...a posting without it - doesn't work. I have been in touch with several local guys already. Thanks.
